Immigrants Deported Despite Court Order

Over the weekend, President Trump ordered 137 alleged Venezuelan gang members to be flown to El Salvador. Their destination? Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo or CECOT. The administration invoked a law from 1798 called the “Alien Enemy Act.” This Act allows the government to detain enemies of the state swiftly, without trial.
A federal judge ordered a stop to this deportation, but the Trump administration continued. The Trump administration claims the plane was already in the air when the order came down. Now, the courts will try to uncover where those planes were when the judge's order was declared.
